WHO PAYS FOR SWINGBED
Medicare covers swingbed if you have been in the hospital as an acute/inpatient for 72-hours. Most commercial insurance companies will cover swingbed if pre-authorized.
Medicaid DOES NOT cover swingbed.
We bill Medicare for all services provided.
Skilled Nursing Facility Co-insurance
If the hospital believes that a service may be denied by Medicare as not medically necessary the patient will be informed in advance. This process will require that the patient sign an Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN). If a patient is asked to sign an ABN we will still bill Medicare for the services in question, however we may also ask for payment prior to rendering service.
